Ha ricevuto la Medaglia Colombiana della Città di Genova nel 1992 e l’onorificenza di Commendatore dalla Repubblica nel 2001. Laureato in ingegneria e fisica))

Ho avuto modo di parlare con Franco Malerba qnaduo era parlamentare europeo, ricordo ancora le due ore passate a cena con lui, durante le quali ci ha raccontato aneddoti sul suo volo, sulla percentuale di incidenti prevista dagli ing. della Nasa per i voli dello Shuttle (tragicamente rispettata nella realte0)…sul calcolo statistico da massaia di Voghera che facevano gli astronauti prima di salire a bordoe sulle assicurazioni stipulate…
